Description

The 'egg on wheels', all lit up for the evening

The original Canadian Boler, the famous lightweight fibreglass 'egg on wheels'. Nowadays, Boler owners take immense pride in showing off their retro vans. Seriously, how cute are they? Your keyring says a lot about you, so why not make yours memorable.

Made from durable metal with vibrant enamel colour, the Boler and both light bulb charms are printed on both sides, so they look just as good whichever way they land. A swivel chain lets your keys turn freely. It arrives in a reusable metal tin with our logo embossed in the lid, making it a perfect gift for friends, family and anyone who appreciates great design.

Why you'll love it

✓ Easy to spot in a bag, pocket or glovebox
✓ Caravan and charms printed on both sides
✓ Two light bulb charms that tell a little story
✓ Durable metal with vibrant enamel colour
✓ Swivel chain, so your keys turn freely
✓ Exclusive design in a reusable embossed tin

Behind the design

The famous 'egg on wheels', invented in Winnipeg, Canada.

Ray Olecko dreamed up the Boler while camping with his family in an old canvas tent. Moulded from fibreglass that acted as both its frame and its skin, it was light enough to tow behind a small car. When dealers doubted the price, he simply picked up the hitch and pulled the trailer across the car park by hand. Built from 1968 to 1988, it inspired more than 40 companies to make look-alike trailers.

Why light bulbs?

Strings of festoon lights draped along the awning are a campsite favourite, and the Boler's windows glow yellow, as if someone has just switched the lights on inside. It's that warm, settling-in feeling at the end of a day on the road.

I was most impressed with the quality of this very special keyring. It is very solid and impressive. I have bought it for my daughter and son-in-law as part of their Christmas present, and I am sure they will like it as much as I do. Thank you for producing such a special item.

Questions? We've got answers.

How big are Van Go caravan keyrings?

Each keyring measures 11 x 5cm and weighs about 30g, a good size to find easily in a bag or glovebox without being bulky.

Are the keyrings double-sided?

Yes, the caravan or motorhome is printed on both sides, so it looks right whichever way it lands. On most designs the charms are double-sided too. Each product’s All the details tab shows exactly which parts are printed on both sides.

What are the charms on each keyring?

Every keyring has two charms chosen to tell a little story with its van, like flamingos with the Sunliner or a kiwi and kōwhai with the New Zealand-born Crusader. You’ll find the story behind each pair in the Behind the design tab.

Do the keyrings come gift-ready?

Yes. Every keyring arrives in a reusable metal tin with the Van Go logo embossed in the lid, so it’s ready to give without any extra wrapping.

What are they made from?

Durable metal with vibrant enamel colour, on a swivel chain that lets your keys turn freely.

Are these real vintage vans?

Yes. Each design is hand-illustrated by our founder Victoria from a real vintage caravan or motorhome, from the Australian-built Sunliner and Millard to the American Airstream and the Dutch Otten.

How long does delivery take?

Orders are dispatched from Melbourne within 1 to 2 business days. Standard delivery takes 3 to 7 business days, from $9.95, and is free on orders over $150.
