Otten Caravans

The Otten caravan is one of the oldest caravans to come out of the Netherlands, which is why it had to represent the Netherlands in our Iconic Collection. It's unusual shape certainly has my attention too!

Predom Caravans

The manufacturer Niewiadów launched what would become Poland’s most famous caravan in 1973. In fact, the Predom Prespol N-126 is still the most popular caravan in Poland, although we hear that it’s used more as a kebab van, rather than a camping van these days!

Shasta Travel Trailer

From the moment I found this little Shasta Compact, I knew she had to be part of our Van Go journey. It was the 'wings' that caught my attention, as it is a feature of these trailers not seen on any other. As you will find out below, they are highly sought after by collectors and enthusiasts and we can see why!

SMV Caravans

Hailing from Sweden, SMV is the oldest caravan factory in Scandinavia. Founder Helmer Berglund originally built cars, but in 1948 decided that caravans were the way forward, thus SMV (Sörby Melaniska Verkstad) was born.

Sprite Caravans

From a post in the armed forces to caravan designer may seem like a leap, however this is exactly what Sam Alper did in 1947. His brother Henry had a newly established caravan business – Alperson Products in the U.K. – that was to become Sprite Caravans, one of Britain’s most trusted and prolific caravan manufacturers.

Sunliner Caravans

If you grew up in Australia somewhere between the 1950’s and 1970’s, chances are you would know the Sunliner. Possibly the most iconic Australian van at the time, Sunliner Caravans was started by Bert Tickner, a clever, determined man, who had a knack for small business.

Teardrop Trailers

The Teardrop trailer, also known as a Teardrop camper trailer, is a streamlined, compact and lightweight caravan, which is named for its distinctive teardrop profile, easily identified due to its large, round front section that tapers towards the back.

Thomson Caravans

When I first started Van Go, we needed a logo and my research led me to these images. The 1970 Thomson Mini Glen became my first love. It was meant to be - Firstly I was born in 1970 and I have Scottish heritage! From a design perspective, it was the perfect shape for a logo because it was symmetrical and therefore, balanced. The fact that it was so cute was a bonus!

Viscount Caravans

Not only do I remember staying in one as a child, I also chose the Viscount caravan to be part of our Van Go Collections because it’s such an iconic Australian brand. One of my favourites, the Viscount 1968 Ambassador, with its distinctive ‘lightning flash’ or ‘twin flash’ design, features in our Winter Collection, and the 1978 Supreme Pop Top, with its fabulous pop-up roof, is part of our Magical Mornings range.
