Your new favourite hanging laundry bag
Dirty clothes pile up fast when you're away. Whether you're out for a long weekend, doing a big lap of Australia or living the van life full time, most laundry bags just aren't up to the job. They're flimsy, they take up space and they look embarrassing sitting out in a caravan. This one's different.
The Van Go Expandable Laundry Bag is a hanging laundry bag made for every kind of trip. Strong enough to carry a full week of clothes, towels, sheets and bedding, light enough to weigh almost nothing, and designed to coordinate beautifully with any van.
Timeless style that suits every caravan.
The Midnight Grey 'Van Living' design brings a classic, sophisticated elegance to your van life essentials. Where other designs celebrate specific van colours, Midnight Grey is designed to coordinate with everything, from vintage cream interiors to modern charcoal fitouts. The iconic caravans from our Destinations Collection sit alongside the very things you pack inside the bag, clothes, pillows, sleeping bags, folded blankets, bathers and more, all rendered in timeless monochrome in Van Go's signature hand-illustrated style.
This is the hanging laundry bag for the caravanner who appreciates clean lines, understated style and the kind of quality that lasts. Screen-printed in rich lasting colour, it is equally at home hanging in the most carefully styled caravan interior as it is at the campsite laundromat.
Collect the set and tell the full story. The Midnight Grey Laundry Bag, Mini Laundry Bag and Shoe Bag together feature every van from the Destinations Collection. Each bag shows a different scale of van and a different selection of the items that go inside, making the three grey bags a complete and coordinated caravan laundry collection in a colourway that suits every van.
Why you'll love it
✔️ Exclusive screen-printed design featuring classic caravans and van life essentials to pack inside, hand-illustrated by Van Go Collections founder Victoria
✔️ Expands when you need it, disappears when you don't. Adjusts from 70cm to 90cm so it handles a weekend bag or a full family load, then folds completely flat to tuck into a drawer, under a bunk or into a suitcase.
✔️Hangs out of the way in even the tightest spaces. The reinforced handles loop over bathroom hooks, bunk rails or tent poles, keeping your dirty clothes bag off the floor and your van feeling organised.
✔️ Keeps clothes fresh between laundromat visits. Breathable Nylon Ripstop allows airflow so clothes don't sweat and stink inside the bag, a genuine problem with cheap sealed bags in hot Australian summers.
✔️ A must-have for dusty outback travel. Heading to the Red Centre, the Flinders Ranges or the Gibb River Road? The tight Ripstop weave keeps fine outback dust out of your clothes and bedding. A genuine must-have for red dirt country.
✔️ Doubles as a dust-free storage bag between trips. When the van's in the shed, use it to store spare pillows, blankets and bedding. The breathable Nylon Ripstop keeps everything fresh and dust-free until your next adventure.
✔️ Throws straight in the wash when it's done. Fully machine washable on a cold cycle. The bag comes out clean and ready for the next trip, no hand scrubbing required.
✔️ A gift that people actually use. With 20,000+ sold across the Van Go Collections range, this is the gift every caravanner, camper and van lifer didn't know they needed.

Why Nylon Ripstop? Because cheap bags don't last.
Most travel laundry bags are made from basic polyester or cotton. We chose reinforced Nylon Ripstop, the same fabric used in parachutes, military gear and expedition backpacks, because on the road your gear needs to keep up.
| What matters on the road | ✓ Nylon Ripstop | Standard Polyester | Cotton Canvas |
|---|---|---|---|
| Clothes stay fresh between washes | ✓ Breathable, airflow through fabric | ⚠ Less breathable, traps heat | ✓ Breathable but absorbs moisture |
| Handles a full week's load without tearing | ✓ Grid-weave stops rips spreading | ⚠ Can tear under heavy loads | ⚠ Strong but heavy when full |
| Dust-proof for outback travel | ✓ Tightly woven, dust-resistant | ⚠ Looser weave lets dust through | ✗ Absorbs dust, hard to clean |
| Handles a splash or damp clothes | ✓ Naturally water-resistant | ⚠ Absorbs moisture over time | ✗ Absorbs water, takes ages to dry |
| Packs flat when not in use | ✓ Folds to almost nothing, 120g | ✓ Light but less compact | ✗ Bulky and heavy (often 400g+) |
| Machine washable | ✓ Cold cycle, good as new | ✓ Usually yes | ✓ Yes, but shrinks over time |
Nylon Ripstop was originally developed for military parachutes, chosen for its extraordinary strength-to-weight ratio. We chose it for your dirty washing for exactly the same reason.
Questions? We've got answers.
What size laundry bag do I need for a caravan trip?
For a week-long trip, you want something that expands to hold a full family load - not just a few shirts. Our expandable caravan laundry bag goes from 70cm (compact, great for couples) to 90cm (expanded, fits sheets and towels too). It's the one size that covers both a weekend away and a month on the road.
Where does a hanging laundry bag actually hang in a caravan?
Anywhere with a hook, rod or rail - and there are more of those in a caravan than you'd think. Our customers hang theirs on wardrobe rods, bathroom door hooks, bunk bed rails, s-hooks on wardrobe walls, and even over the back of the bathroom door. The reinforced handles are wide enough to loop over most standard rods without slipping.
Is a dirty clothes bag the same as a laundry bag?
Yes - a dirty clothes bag, travel laundry bag and travel washing bag all refer to the same thing: a bag to collect worn clothes while travelling, until you reach a laundromat or washing machine. Ours is also fully collapsible and foldable, so it packs completely flat into a drawer or suitcase when not in use - and doubles as a storage bag for bedding and pillows between trips.
Can I use it as a storage bag for pillows and blankets?
Absolutely - and this is one of our customers' favourite uses for it. When the caravan's in storage between trips, the bag is perfect for keeping spare pillows, blankets and bedding dust-free and fresh. The breathable Nylon Ripstop lets air circulate so nothing goes musty, while the tight weave keeps dust out. It's especially handy if you're storing your van between the caravanning seasons, or travelling through dusty areas like the Red Centre where keeping bedding protected makes a real difference.
Can I put the bag itself in the washing machine?
Yes. The Nylon Ripstop fabric is fully machine washable on a cold cycle. When the bag needs a freshen-up - especially after outback trips - toss it in with your load. It comes out clean, keeps its shape, and is ready for the next adventure.
Will the screen-printed design fade over time?
Screen printing on Nylon Ripstop is durable and holds its colour well through repeated cold-cycle washing. Avoid hot washes and tumble drying to keep the print looking its best - the same care you'd give any quality printed fabric.
